Progressive Systems delivers solutions to simplify Earth Observation data exploitation. Such solutions, based on the one hand on scientific knowledge and on the other hand on specific competence in EO data management, operations and cloud computing, as well as customer relationship management and continuous process improvement, ease the management of complex processes related to the exploitation of Earth Observation data.

We are looking for candidates for new projects related to Earth Observation Research and Big Data Analysis. Such projects offer a concrete opportunity to talented and motivated candidates to start a career in the EO/Data Science domain which is expected to significantly growth in the coming years. Both positions will be based in our office in the Parco Scientifico of Tor Vergata.

Background

Master Degree in Engineering, Physics or equivalent. Competence in applied Earth Observation/Remote Sensing applications, such as:

  • EO data, in particular SAR and optical, analysis and exploitation
  • EO systems/applications design, development, integration, verification and validation
  • EO algorithm development and validation

Desired Knowledge and Competences 

  • Programming skills for data analysis and image processing in at least one of the following languages: Python, IDL, Matlab, C, C++, C#, Java
  • Advanced knowledge of Bash or Python scripting
  • Knowledge of database and SQL language
  • Knowledge of Linux environments, in particular Ubuntu and RHEL based distributions
  • Knowledge and ability in EO data processing techniques
  • Practical experience with the ESA software packages (Sentinels Toolboxes, NEST, BEAM)
  • Practical experience with image processing software and GIS tool (e.g. ERDAS, ENVI, GDAL, QGIS)

Profile EO researcher/engineerProfile: Big Data and HPC specialist
Background:

  • University Degree in Engineering (telecommunication, electronic, aerospace, software) or Physics or Remote Sensing related fields
  • Relevant Post graduate studies (MsC or PhD) on applied Earth Observation (EO) remote sensing applications or related fields
  • Earth Observation work experience in at least in one of the following:
  • EO data, in particular SAR and optical, analysis and exploitation
  • EO systems/applications design, development, integration, verification and validation
  • EO users community support and requirements analysis
  • EO research for algorithms development and validation

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of European and ESA space programmes, in particular Copernicus
  • Knowledge and ability in EO data processing techniques
  • Practical experience with the ESA software packages (Sentinels Toolboxes, NEST, BEAM)
  • Practical experience with image processing software and GIS tool (e.g. ERDAS, ENVI, GDAL, QGIS)
